I never thought I could eat pizza while dieting but ohhh my the gluten-free vegan pizza i made last night was absolutely delicious! All in about the time it takes to order delivery! And rice crust i find much more filling and comforting than regular crust.
Delicious!

The Low GI, No-Gluten Experiment
Well one week in and I'm noticing that I'm still getting hungry a lot of the time. I think I must be focusing on the wrong foods. So for the next few weeks I'm going to trying reducing calories but up-ing the quantity of food by snipping out food high in gluten and opting for the healthy rice/potato based options. I will also focus on eating food that has lessened effects on blood sugar. Meaning, the food takes longer to breakdown leaving you feeling less hungry (allegedly)...
We shall see...
Side note...I've also taken a liking to mixed nuts...though high in calories they make a perfect light and heart healthy snack, when you just can't quite wait till your next meal.

Maybe it's the philosophy...
I had a little epiphany today while sitting at work. The reason that I quit diets is because I hate feeling hungry...
WOW! I thought...what is wrong with me, I've become a bad north American stereotype! I'm complaining about not eating enough when half the worlds is starving to death! I need to change my outlook on life if being "hungry" is my biggest problem I should really give my head a shake!

Graduation is in my grasp! (and other life events)
I've received word today that my program requirements have been achieved and I'm all set! Nothing will get in the way of me and my U of G degree! Five interesting years, great friends, great lessons learnt all in all some of the best years of my life, but I'm ready to move on close a chapter and start a new.
We've started looking for a new apartment, lots of website browsing and touring. We are looking for a June/July move in date and I'm starting to get very excited! I have decorating plans dancing in my head! As they say, it seems like the pieces are all in place...
On the diet front I'm hoping that my good feelings toward the documenting part of the WW plan doesn't fade. Though, I am really enjoying the fact that I can eat anything in moderation, while learning life long skills like potion control and creating well balanced meals. It's moderately tedious having to document every morsel of food I consume in day. That being said I think its an important step at this point because I really need to focus on caloric and fat intake that i otherwise wouldn't really think about...Probably the root of my problem to begin with...apathy will get ya like that...
I also bought a new bathroom scale today, it not only tells you your weight but also measures body mass, bone density and muscle mass. Which is pretty spiffy! I also picked up a new yoga mat and some 5 pound weight along with a balance ball so I can do some light yoga/exercise at home when I'm feeling restless or bored (better than picking up a bag of chips I think). The best part about the lifestyle change is that my boyfriend is behind me 100% of the way, joining me at the gym (even yoga though he claims it's harder than a hour on the elliptical and weights!), eating healthy and cutting back on things like alcohol and other indulgences. It's great to be changing for the better together. That may sound totally cheeseball but it's true. Everything is easier with a partner in crime!
Peace and Love!

The Plan...the first official blog.
So I've mentioned my goals a little earlier but I think I'm going to expand on my health related goals and my plan of attack.
I've started a weight watchers diet this week and so far other then the tracking of foods it doesn't seem too restrictive and "diet-like" which means just maybe it will work. I've also created a gym plan to optimize my weight loss goals.
Gym routine is loosely as follows:

Gym routine is loosely as follows:
DAY 1
- 30 Min moderate elliptical
- 15 min treadmill fit test and 5 min cool down
- 10 min sauna to detox the muscles and relax
DAY 2
- 1 hour power yoga class
- 20 min moderate elliptical
- 10 min sauna detox
Day 3
- 20 min resistance training back, arms and core
- 20 min moderate elliptical
- stretching/mild yoga
- sauna
Day 4
- 30 min treadmill fit test
- 20 min moderate elliptical
I eventually would like to add a spinning or Zumba class if my schedule allows it.
